Why did we build this chatbot?

We’re a bit (very) waste-obsessed. For Nikki, GoodMine’s founder, it all started with an old coffee machine.

In 2022, total UK household waste generation was 25.7 million tonnes. So, more specifically, we want to prevent waste and do our bit to help this number go down.

But we understand that it can certainly be difficult to choose the sustainable option for stuff because it’s often elusive or the process takes up a lot of time. This is where the GoodMine chatbot comes in.

Donate, sell, share, repair – whichever you choose, the chatbot will find you the best option from our curated directory. The options will be tailored to you and your priorities. You’ll also prolong the lifespan of items which helps to save our planet.

How does it work?

The Chatbot begins by asking a few basic questions about you and what your top priority is from the following: avoid landfill, earn cash, speed, charity or repair. Then, it asks a few questions about your item. Based on this information it connects you to services near you. This includes charities, second-hand buyers, small businesses and more. You may even discover a sustainable hidden gem.
